Gas, Water & Diesel Plumbing

Gas Plumbing

We install gas systems supplied from internal gas cylinders or underslung tanks dependent on your gas volume needs. Downstream from the cylinder/tank’s regulator, gas manifolds can supply multiple appliances or a standalone isolation valve can be installed for one appliance.

For heating in the living area and for water heating we can install gas/electric systems or diesel/electric systems. It’s worth considering your needs as gas is not as readily available as it used to be.

Water Plumbing

We install underslung fresh water and waste tanks, or internal tanks, dependent upon your needs – with a lockable bulkead water fill inlet and drain valves.

We can design options for the location of the tanks and routing of the plumbing, dependent upon the base vehicle.

A water pump is plumbed to the fresh water tank and supplies the kitchen, shower, toilet and water heater. An accumulator is fitted downstream of the pump to smooth the flow from the pump’s outlet, along with a water filter to the selected supplies.

We typically install a gas/electric or diesel/electric boiler to provide hot air heating to the living area and to heat the hot water. Both systems have an external bulkhead flue for the combustion exhaust.

A cold water supply is plumbed to the boiler with either gas or diesel heating the hot water, dependent upon the system. A 230V ac electrical supply is also wired to the boiler to heat the hot water when the van is connected to electric hook up.

The Truma D4E illustrated below has a diesel fuel line plumbed to the boiler as the burner fuel source to heat the hot water. This is the output from the diesel pump which is plumbed to the van’s diesel tank – or can be plumbed to an auxiliary diesel tank.

Diesel Plumbing

For convenience, we recommend plumbing the heater diesel pump into the van’s diesel tank sender unit. This eliminates the need for an auxiliary tank. The plumbing prioritises the campervan engine diesel supply to ensure the heater does not leave too low a diesel level in the tank to start the engine (if the diesel in the tank is low).

The images below illustrate the heater’s diesel pump and plumbing the diesel fuel line to the van’s sender unit.
